MillerWorks awarded a plumbing and mechanical contract for the State of Florida Department of Management Services Emergency Operations Center Project

A new $180 million State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) will be built in Tallahassee to be completed and up and running by the end of 2025.

The SEOC serves as the designated coordination center for the Governor and all state agencies and partners when responding to a disaster.

The new SEOC will not only accommodate the growing needs of the Division but also support its pursuit to remain a national leader in the field of emergency management and foster a more prepared and resilient Florida. The new SEOC will accommodate Division staff and partners in a two-story building, constructed to withstand wind speeds of up to 200 mph (Category 5 hurricane), and include upgraded technology that streamlines processes and allows Division employees to continue day-to-day operations while also actively responding to a disaster. It will include designated spaces for all twenty Emergency Support Functions, media, future emergency management training, and law enforcement, as well as the mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery bureaus. This will allow the Division and other support agencies to accommodate enough staff members to respond to a disaster quickly and effectively.

“It means more to me personally than building just a building”, said Heath Miller, President of MillerWorks, “When we get to be a part of creating a stronger future for our state and its communities, that’s something me and my team don’t take lightly. We know when its completed, there’ll be people in there working to save lives, so, for what we do the plumbing and mechanical work will be flawless.”
